To the Cathedral is a visual collage of my pilgrimage in Spain, Camino de Santiago. I used the Dérive method of psychogeography by collecting video clips, journals, photographs, sketches, paintings, and documents from the pilgrimage. This work explores pilgrims’ endurance and contemplation, which then accumulates to build a “cathedral” inside of them. The combination of physical materials and digital painting blurs the boundary between the real and the imagined landscapes from the walk, oscillating between the subjective and objective experience of the pilgrimage.
